We are pleased to be supporting the restoration of the WWI Memorial at the former Peabody High School, now Obama Academy, in the East Liberty neighborhood of Pittsburgh.
This memorial is the creation of Frank Vittor, an Italian-born sculptor, was a prolific artist, creating dozens of statues, fountains, and memorials in Pittsburgh and the surrounding boroughs.
Commissioned after WWI and dedicated circa 1920 with statute and round base it is 10 feet tall in total with the statute measuring approximately 6 feet in height. It served as a flagpole at one point. There are six figures and the base has over a hundred names of Peabody students and faculty who served in WWI.
Your generous contribution will help restore this important memorial. Using the button below is directing your contribution specifically to the Peabody WWI memorial restoration fund.
