At Military Community Support Project, we know that service dogs change veterans' lives. Join us in spreading kindness and making the world a better place for our nation's military heroes.
We are a charitable organization committed to supporting and promoting the very best work being done in service of our veterans and the military community. One way we have expanded our reach is by providing service dogs and necessary training to veterans who have a demonstrated need. To accomplish this we support qualified service dog programs. Qualified programs match veterans with dogs and puts them in intensive training for 24 months to bond and forge new lives together. Dog and veteran are paired according to the veteran's needs, mobility, and personality, and the dog's capabilities and temperament. Approved veterans will receive a dog matched to their needs and will fully participate in the two-year training program required of service dogs. Our funding covers the cost of obtaining the dog and all of the necessary training. Your donations made using the links on this page will be earmarked specifically for our Veteran Service Dog program.

No, service dogs and emotional support dogs aren’t the same. While both types of dogs help people with disabilities, each is a unique classification governed by different laws. Service animals are trained to perform specific tasks that assist a person with a disability, while emotional support dogs provide emotional comfort but are not required to perform specific tasks.
Absolutely, service dogs can provide emotional support. In fact, many service dog owners feel deeply emotionally connected to their pet. However, in order to qualify as a service animal, a dog must perform specific tasks to help a person with a disability.
A Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) dog is a psychiatric service dog who is specifically trained to perform tasks associated with psychiatric disabilities. The ADA says these tasks might include safety checks or room searches, turning on lights, and helping calm the handler when they exhibit signs of stress.
